Chanise Grealy, local to Boyne Island, QLD, has been making art since she can remember. With a foundation in drawing and a love for watercolours, she thrives making art that sees the beauty in life. With a little bit of honesty and some squiggly weirdness, Chanise’s hope is that you feel a kinship with the statements and colours she's "smooshed" together for this exhibit, "Be Still".
Faith has played a huge and foundational role in Chanise’s life and art practice. After receiving her bachelor degree in Theology with intentions of becoming a church leader, she realized there are probably enough Christians leading in the church and decided to focus on bringing a positive influence to both the art world and her local community outside the church building.
Founding "Brushes & Brews" Chanise now teaches Paint & Sip classes and exhibits her work in local cafes and galleries in the Gladstone (QLD) region. If she's honest (which she likes to be, even in third person) Chanise has never been happier with her life decisions to move away from the politics of organized religion and give all she’s got to bringing connection, community and joy to her smallish, kind and down to earth, regional community.
The Way is extremely thrilled to be exhibiting Chanise’s work and can't wait for you to see it for yourself. "Be Still" will be opening January 1st and run until 30th March.
